Val is awesome. He is welcoming and friendly. Willing to just let you shop or chat if that is what you are interested in. Lots of snacks. Many locally sourced from around NC. There is also some home decor items. There are fresh cakes and goodies as well. Some whole cakes and pies in a cooler. There is a pastry cabinet near the register with what is available for individual purchase. We highly recommend the jalapeno flavored peanuts- delicious!
I’ve had the carrot cake, the cinnamon rolls and a few other tasty treats,. The worst I’ve tasted from Val’s bakery was absolutely amazing. The staff is very accommodating, friendly and most importantly has a positive attitude. Highly recommended.
If you are looking for a fancy cake for a fancy occasion, this is the place to go. Beautifully decorated and delicious. If you don't have a fancy occasion but you still want a piece of fancy cake. This is the place to go. You can get fresh special occasion Cake by the slice everyday at Val's. My personal favorite are the cheesecake filled cakes, and the best flavor is pistachio. Black and white cake is pretty good too. Don't be put off by the price per slice. It is worth it. And if you're still on a budget, you can make it into four servings easy, but you won't want to.
Picked up a delicious cherry pie and apple turnover while visiting from out of state. Very happy we stopped in, even got it wrapped up nicely for the trip home. Owner was super friendly, great experience!
Val's brownies and lemon bars were incredible! The brownies were firm on the bottom and gooey on the top (they paired well with a Pitt Street beer). We also enjoyed some Carolina Kettle chips that were crab boiled flavored. Oh my, this is our new favorite chip! We brought home a tomato pie as well and are sure it will be amazing!
