Many people who suffer from anxiety or depression will say that they feel as if they have no control over their lives. They feel as if they are just being bombarded with problems and challenges all around them, and they don’t know how to deal with them. This can lead to a feeling of helplessness, and this feeling can lead to a feeling of hopelessness.
But what if you could actually change your life by changing your thoughts? What if you could change your life by changing the way you think about your life? What if you could change the way you think about your own situation? What if you could change how you feel about yourself and your life?
The answer is yes, you can. And it’s not difficult. All you need to do is learn how to change your thoughts. It’s really very simple. Here’s how you can start:
1) First, take some time to write down your thoughts. Write down all the things that you are worried about and all the things that you are anxious about. You may want to write down things that are bothering you right now. Then, you can read your list over and over again. You can read it in the morning when you wake up, in the afternoon before you go to bed, or at any other time of day that you feel like reading it.
2) Next, decide which of these thoughts are causing you to feel anxious or depressed. For example, if you are worrying about money, then you might be feeling anxious because you worry about whether or not you’ll have enough money for the bills that you need to pay. If you are feeling anxious because you are worried about getting a job, then you might be feeling depressed because you feel as if you have no chance of ever finding a job.
3) Once you have decided which of your thoughts are causing you to feel depressed or anxious, you can start to change them. You can begin by changing the words that you use to describe your thoughts. For example, if you were worrying about whether or not you’ll find a job, you can begin to replace those words with words such as “I’m looking for a job.” Or, if you were feeling anxious because you didn’t have enough money, you can begin to replace the words with words such as “Money is tight,” or “I’m having trouble paying my bills.”
4) After you have replaced the words, you can also replace the feelings that come along with those words. For example, if you said, “I’m worried about finding a job,” you can replace that thought with a more positive one. You can say, “I’m going to look for a job today.” Or, if you said, “Money is tight,” you can say, “I’m making sure that I have enough money to pay my bills.”
5) Finally, you can begin to repeat these new words and thoughts over and over again. You might say them out loud, or you might say them silently to yourself. You might even write them down and keep them where you can see them every day.
These steps should help you to change your thoughts and your feelings. You should notice that you are feeling better after you’ve taken these steps. You should also notice that your thoughts are changing, too.
